In short: Koky keeps your everyday profile and logs on your device. When you choose an AI feature, the information needed for that request may be sent to OpenAI. Apple Health access is optional and read-only.
Who we are
Koky is operated by Kirlos Yousef (“Koky,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). For privacy questions or requests, email support@kirlosyousef.com.
This policy explains information handled by the Koky iOS app and this website, why it is used, and the choices available to you.
Information stored on your device
Koky does not require you to create an account. In the current app, information you add is stored locally so the app can provide its features. This can include:
- Your profile details and preferences, such as your selected goals, age range or age, measurements, food preferences, allergies, and meal-planning choices.
- Meal plans, recipes, shopping-list choices, food logs, nutrition targets, and the notes or review details you save.
- Water and workout entries, progress, challenge completions, streaks, and companion rewards.
- Meal-photo thumbnails or other food images you choose to save in Koky.
Koky does not operate an account sync service in the current app. Your device’s own backup settings may include app data; manage those through your Apple device settings.
Apple Health
You can choose whether to connect Apple Health. If you do, Koky may read activity, workout, height, weight, and water information that is needed for the features you use. Koky does not write workouts or weigh-ins to Apple Health. You can manage or revoke access in Apple Health or iOS Settings.
Apple Health information is used to show activity and personalize app features. Koky does not use it for advertising.
Camera, photos, and dictation
You can use your camera to photograph meals or scan a nutrition label or menu. Label and menu text recognition is performed on your device. Meal photos stay on your device unless you choose an AI photo-estimation feature; in that case, the selected image is sent for that estimate.
If you use meal dictation, Koky uses Apple’s Speech framework to turn your speech into text. Koky requests on-device recognition when your device supports it. If on-device recognition is unavailable, Apple’s speech service may process the audio under Apple’s terms. Koky does not save the raw recording as a food-log entry.
AI features and OpenAI
When AI features are enabled, Koky sends information to OpenAI only when you request an AI-assisted feature. Depending on what you choose, the request may include:
- A food description or meal photo for a nutrition estimate.
- Your meal preferences, nutrition targets, allergies or avoidances, and planning choices for a meal plan.
- Ingredients, pantry availability, and cooking preferences when you request cooking instructions.
Koky sends information needed to answer the request. The app asks OpenAI’s Responses API not to store response state, but this does not disable all provider logging. OpenAI’s API data controls describe current processing, logging, and retention practices.
AI responses and nutrition values can be incomplete or inaccurate. Review results before relying on them; they are estimates and are not medical advice.
App Store purchases
If Koky offers a subscription, the purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. Koky receives purchase confirmation and entitlement information from Apple on your device so it can provide the subscription features. Apple handles payment details under its own privacy terms; Koky does not receive your full payment-card number.
This website
This is a static information site. It does not include Koky account sign-in, advertising, or analytics scripts. The hosting provider may process standard technical request information when a page is loaded. Apple App Store links and links to other providers are governed by those providers’ own privacy practices.
Your choices and deleting information
You can edit or remove information within the app where those controls are available, manage Apple Health access in iOS, and choose whether to use camera, dictation, and AI features. You can remove locally stored Koky data by deleting the app from your device. Device backups may retain a copy according to your Apple backup settings.
Koky does not have a user account service in the current app, so there is no remote profile to delete. For a question about information you submitted to an AI provider, contact that provider directly and see its current privacy terms.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Koky or its data practices change. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
